First, we can consider the furniture or the ornaments that are already present outdoors. It would ease out the burden of having to choose which style or design is applicable for the pillows' fabric. For example if the furniture or the sofa is vintage looking, the outdoor pillow's fabric should look or feel vintage also. Choose something that compliments the entire look of the den or the backyard.
For additional style, there are outdoor pillows available in different shapes and sizes. You can mix and match them so it won't look too boring. You can also ask for a specific fabric or material like the sunbrella fabric which is a good choice of fabric especially if it's for outdoor use. If the design that you want is not readily available you can also have them customized.
There are also lots of cushion types out in the market now. You can get a bench cushion, a chair cushion a chaise lounge cushion, etc. It's up to you to decide which of these will work best and look good on your den or patio.
